The Nehru Memorial College of Education organised a lecture on
"Learning and Teaching English" by Dr.S.R.Komahan Kaverinadan Head of
the Department of English, NMC. Pon.Balasubramanian felicitated and
Dean.Dr.A.Prabaharan moderated the lecture.
In
his lecture Dr.Komahan said "Colonisers British left our nation seven
decades ago but their language English has stayed back. Today English is
the most attractively spoke languages across the world. To learn and
teach English one should not be hesistant. Initially there will be a lot
of mistakes. This is common. None can learn at the first shot fluently.
It takes a long time to learn a language. With persistent efforts and
eagerness one can master English. Due to these qualities, Indians are
masters of English. The recent Indian winners of world level English
writing competitions like Booker Prize shows the high level competency
of Indians.
Dr.Ramesh.N, Head, Department of
Zoology and hundreds of students participated. Earlier Convenor of the
lecture Ms.Durga welcomed. P.R.Nithya, Co-Convenor proposed vote of
thanks.
