Inaugural session was
started on 17th January, 2017 at Seminar hall of Nehru Memorial
College, Puthanampatti, Trichy district. The inauguration address was given by Dr.R.Raghavendra Rao PhD., FNASc. FASc, Convenor, INSA Honorary Scientist,
Bengaluru -560038. He proposed the need of science education in India. The
Presidential Address was given by our college president Er.Pon.Balasubramanian and the Lecture workshop was presided over
by Dr.T.Jayaprakasam, Principal, Nehru Memorial College,
Puthanampatti, Tiruchirappalli.
Day I
Session 1: Dr.R.Raghavendra Rao
PhD., FNASc. FASc, Convenor,
INSA Honorary Scientist was delivered a effective lecture on “Some emerging challenges in contemporary botanical
science with a special focus on Plant Taxonomy and Ethnobotany” and he
emphasized the Conservation of Biodiversity.
Session 2: Dr.M.Sanjappa, Ph.D., FASc.,
FNASc., Emeritus Scientist who delivered the lecture on “Floristic Diversity in India: an over view”. He
triggered the enthusiasm among the participants by his colourful pictures taken
from the natural environment.
Session 3: Dr. G.
Archunan, Professor
and Head, Department of Animal Science, Bharathidasan University, Trichy
delivered a lecture on “Pheromones and
animals”. He explained the nature of pheromones found in various animals.
Session 4: Dr.
G. Archunan, Professor
and Head, Department of Animal Science,
Bharathidasan University, Trichy delivered a
lecture on “Pheromone and Wild Life Conservation”.
Day 2:
Session 1: Dr. K R Shivanna, INSA
Honorary Scientist and Honorary Senior Fellow, Ashoka Trust for
Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), Bengaluru delivered a lecture
on “Pollination: Critical ecoservice needed for
sustenance of biodiversity and crop productivity”. He detailed the pollinating
agents and their importance.
Session 2:
Session 2: Dr.M.Sanjappa, Ph.D., FASc.,
FNASc., Emeritus Scientist who delivered the lecture on “Kas Plateau: a botanical paradise in Western Ghats”.
Session 3: Dr. K R Shivanna, INSA Honorary Scientist
and Honorary Senior Fellow, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and
the Environment (ATREE),
Bengaluru delivered a lecture on “Why India's
efforts on conservation of plant diversity are poor?”. He emphasized the
emerging challenges in biodiversity.
Session 4: Dr.R.Raghavendra
Rao PhD., FNASc. FASc, Convenor, INSA Honorary Scientist was delivered a lecture on “Endangered species: Problems and Solutions”.
Valedictory session was started after the successful
completion of two lectures by chief guests. Valedictory address was given by Dr.R.Raghavendra Rao
PhD., FNASc. FASc, Convenor,
INSA Honorary Scientist, Bangalore. He motivated the students to take research
as a career and save the human kind. The session was presided over by
Dr.S.Kumararaman, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physics, Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatti,
Tiruchirappalli. Dr.A.Boopathy Raja, Assistant
Professor, PG and Research Department of Zoology, Nehru Memorial College
(Autonomous), Puthanampatti, Tiruchirapalli had proposed the vote of thanks. We
whole heartedly thank the Science academies and Our College Management for continuous
support by them.
