Nehru Memorial College, Puthanampatty organised Teachers' day very grandly. Member of Parliament Trichy N.Siva graced the occasion as the chief guest. President Pon.Balasubramanian presided over the function  , Secretary Pon.Ravichandran honoured the guest, Principal T.Jayaprakasam welcomed the gathering and Dean A.Prabaharan coordinated the event

In his teachers' day address Siva MP said "It is essential to have brilliant and benevolent teachers to mould the students. Without good teachers our nation will be deprived from genuine development. Teachers are the backbone of any nation's development.

Teachers must teach their students the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters. Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Vanchinathan are the personalities who should be remembered everyday by the students. When they are taught the life stories of these patriots automatically national spirit will come to the younger generation.

Educational institutions should not play audio cassettes of Tamil Thai Vazhalthu and national anthem. People should rise up and sing from their hearts. Then only the true spirit of the song can come.

Future belongs to the students and youth. Youth and students growth depends on the quality of teachers. Teachers should never cease to learn. They must learn, relearn and unlearn to shape up the best minds of the world." said Trichy N.Siva.

The faculty members who received grants for their major & minor projects, published research papers and won prizes in creative writing, poetry and dumb charades were honoured by the chief guest.

Mahalakshmi and Kalpana of computer science coordinated the programme and Kasturi Pandian proposed the vote of thanks
