Sixty students from first year B.Ed program of Nehru Memorial
College at Abinimanagalam carried out counseling and relief measures at
the Cyclone Gaja affected places of Thanjavur and Trichy district.
College President Pon.Balasubramanian and Dean A.Prabaharan flagged off
the team of students.
They distributed rice,
pulses, water, mats, mosquito coils, match boxes , biscuts, snacks and
clothes to two hundred families of Marungulam, Karunkulam villages
situated 30 kms from Thanjavur on the Pattukottai road. In
Thiruvalarsolai village near Kallanai, the students led by Dean
A.Prabaharan counselled the banana farmers who have lost their produce.
Students
were shocked over the devastation caused by Cyclone Gaja and they spoke
words of consolation which soothed a bit of the affected people.
